Oracle Senior Principal Database Administrator Oracle/Exadata (OCI - Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) in Stamford, Connecticut
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.
Colorado Pay Range: From $124,774 to $224,599 per annum

Fusion Application Control Plane (FACP) is an exciting new team working on at the intersection of infrastructure and applications where we are leveraging OCI to transform some of the largest SaaS properties in the industry. We are making the existing Oracle's SaaS portfolios, including the multi-billion dollar revenue producing Fusion applications, become first class Oracle cloud citizens. To support the vision we are building a platform that manages end-to-end lifecycle, from provisioning to upgrade to terminate; and provides a self-service cloud experience to the customer for our SaaS product by leveraging the underlying OCI platform and services.
We are developing a FACP Data Platform from the ground up. As such, we are looking for passionate principal engineers who areDatabase AND Exadata experts. We are looking for engineers who have current experience in cloud technologies or are interested in expanding their skills in the Cloud.

Minimum Qualifications:
12 years of experience shipping scalable, cloud native distributed systems
BS or MS (preferred) in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
Strong grasp of Computer Science concepts
Proficient in at scripting tools is a plus
You are experienced at building highly available services, possessing knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols
Experience with production operations and best practices for putting quality code in production and troubleshoot issues when they arise
Able to effectively communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams and presentations)
Work with the Oracle Fusion Application Control Plane Team on the shared full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas.
Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services.
Be responsible for the design and delivery of the mission critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance.
Take authority for end-to-end performance and operability.
Partner with development teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture.
Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide Development Teams to engineer and add premier capabilities to the Oracle Cloud service portfolio.
Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack.
Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles.
Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations.
Understand and explain the effect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems.
Identify solutions to knowledge of server hardware and software configuration, networking, standard internet services, scripting languages, cloud computing patterns, technology security and compliance.
Solve complex problems related to infrastructure cloud services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
Design, write, and deploy software to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services.
Design and develop designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems.
Facilitate service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.
Preferred Qualifications
System Engineer with extensive experience in:
Oracle RDBMS
Oracle GI (CW and ASM) and RAC
Oracle Exadata
Experience in:
Database High availability (DG, GG) and its best practices
Performance tuning of the above areas
Advanced Scripting/coding skills (Shell, Perl and Python)
Understanding of REST Architecture and JSON is a plus
Building and managing Linux OS systems with good understanding how the Linux kernel works (IO, Network, etc.) and ability to read and understand source code
Building and managing Virtualized systems (KVM, OVM, Containers/Docker) and ability to read and understand source code
Very strong analytical skills to identify problems root cause
Systematic problem solving approach, combined with a strong sense of ownership and drive.
