Comcast Sr Engineer, Software Development and Engineering in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Comcast Cable is looking to take our Data Management team to the next level by hiring a Sr. Engineer who will contribute to making our dept and team greater than ever. We are looking for a professional with strong leadership and engineering experience who’s open to collaborating with various areas of the business to assist with achieving business goals and delivering overall value to the organization.
The Data Management team, under the umbrella of Xfinity Mobile, is a back office organization and has responsibility for external and internal operational interfaces and data exchanges to support business functions that impact customers.
Creating and maintaining enterprise data sources for Inventory, the Product catalog, the Operational Data Store, and the Data Hub are the core responsibilities of the team.
The team uses exciting new technologies such as: Cassandra, MongoDB, MSSQL, Hadoop, Oracle, Pentaho, Scala, Python, Spark, Java, Node.js, Angular.js, Kafka – on Linux platform, and Spring boot on Cloud Foundry.
Position Specific Responsibilities:
This individual will understand what the leadership team is looking for and provide realistic and valuable recommendations on technology solutions. This individual will understand the business and technology requirements, along with functional and operational requirements.
This individual will have excellent communication skills, an eye for understanding issues and a flare for solving problems.
This individual will work across multiple solution architects, business partners, and product owners while engineering business solutions in support of Wireless business operations.
This individual will collaborate with technical and business team to present, define, and strategize implementation of business and technology requirements, their roadmaps and solutions.
This individual will critically evaluate and provide recommendations or changes to architecture or design proposed for the business requirements.
This individual will lead and Co-ordinate delivery efforts in a matrix organization.
This individual will, in a timely manner, ensure User Stories are groomed by Solution Architects, Technical Architects, and Business Analysts, and ensure progress of delivery with the help of the Scrum master.
This individual will prepare and present analysis, findings, or issue resolutions with regard to the implementation of business solutions or the gaps therein up to VP level.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, software Engineering, or related major is required.
7+ years of experience in working as data integration, data solution
7+ years of Programming experience in Pentaho or Informatica, and Shell scripts
7+ years of data-centric development and programming using industry standard tools
7+ years of Programming experience in complex SQLs, Oracle Stored procedures
Programming experience with NoSQL databases
Experience in running and software solutions on Linux operating systems
Excellent in logic / algorithm development
Excellent analytical skills
Experience on managing complete SDLC s/w development, continuous integration, test-driven/behavior-driven development, and agile, scrum development methodologies
Ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries
Excellent oral, written, problem solving, and presentation skills
Experience with on-shore and off-shore SDLC model – a plus
Desired Skills/ Experience
Telecommunications experience, knowledge of telecommunication/cable billing, customer care systems, EDI file processing e.g. DST, CSG and AMDOC etc – a great advantage
Knowledge of NoSQL platforms is a plus
Related certification – a plus
Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Develops software update process for existing applications. Assists in the roll-out of software releases.
Trains junior Software Development Engineers on internally developed software applications.
Oversees the researching, writing and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior level Software Development Engineers.
Assists in tracking and evaluating performance metrics. Ensures team delivers software on time, to specification and within budget.
Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
Displays expertise in knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts and skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
