Oracle Tech Analyst Relations (AR), Senior Director in Matawan, New Jersey

Development and implementation of business plans, marketing strategy, and forecasts for a product/service or vertical market. Manages a staff of managers.

As a manager in product marketing, you will be responsible for leading the development of company marketing specifications for specific product(s) or product line(s). Manage marketing activities within the context of the overall corporate plan to meet company objectives. Monitor the development of business plans and business results of e-marketing. Manage lifecycles and product positioning in the market place. Identify customer needs, oversee market research, and monitor the market trends/competitive landscape. Implement and monitor advertising campaigns. Act as a technical advisor for specific product(s). Initiate and foster relationships with development, sales, and other groups to develop new products or enhance functionality of existing product(s) or product line(s). Ensure successful product releases based on corporate priorities.

Directs and ensures the implementation of operational policies through subordinate managers. Interacts internally and externally with executive management involving negotiation of difficult matters to influence policy. Functional expertise and broad company knowledge. In-depth knowledge of the computer industry, database and development technology and markets. Extensive marketing analysis experience. BA/BS degree. MBA preferred.

Responsible for managing Oracle’s Tech AR team of 6 AR Managers and leading the Tech AR program within our key product areas that are seeing exceptional growth, the movement to the Cloud, and customer excitement. Oracle’s key Tech product areas are Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Database, Analytics, Data Science, Security, and Developer. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, has a strategic mindset, strong executive relationship-building skills, and a track record of executing successful analyst relations, strategic communications, and/or product marketing programs. The ideal candidate must have experience managing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

You will report to the SVP Analyst Relations, support the most senior executives in the Development and Marketing teams, and will work closely with the Industry, International and Digital AR team leaders. You will also collaborate with other AR leaders who cover the Cloud Application Product portfolios. In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to directly impact Oracle results, while also helping to do things differently, bring in new approaches and innovate AR processes and communications as needed.

There are thousands of analysts at hundreds of firms worldwide who are trying to explain and help customers understand Oracles value and differentiation within the paradigm of cloud computing. Your role is to lead a team of AR Managers whose role it is to connect with Tech analysts, explain how Oracle products and solutions are superior in their specific environment and ecosystem, and work with these analysts to understand core customer requirements and concerns. You should be creative, curious, and able to think “out of the box” to find the right analysts with whom to promote Oracle’s solutions and broader Oracle Cloud message. You will be responsible for proactively maintaining positive relationships with leading industry analysts and influencers and driving awareness and coverage of Oracle’s vision, strategy, differentiation, and market momentum.

You will frequently participate in executive roundtables, competitive panels, and will represent Oracle to customers and analysts. You will work independently with Development and Marketing executives, be laser-focused on value-add conversations, contribute analysts’ insights positively, and bring solutions to product challenges. You need to be able, to hold crucial conversations when stakes are high and situations confrontational, to smartly push-back on senior executives act as a strategic advisor and build and nurture the appropriate executive relationships.

You are responsible for defining the AR strategy for the Tech space including goals and direction. You will be managing a group of people driving initiatives in support of Oracles growth strategy, and strongly influencing analyst perception. We expect you to create new visionary ideas redefining the Tech AR space, driving change, bringing new perspectives, and leading forward looking conversations. You will execute in a decisive and empowered way, working independently, running with ideas – talking about and promoting them.

You will manage and develop people. Engage regularly, listen carefully, ask good growth-oriented questions, check-in if your AR Managers need support, guide them, care about their personal growth, bring them into senior conversations and strategic decision making. You will manage the team to achieve an agreed set of metrics, ensuring a balanced team effort and performance across all coverage areas.

This is a highly visible role in a highly competitive environment. Leadership and decision-making skills are a must. You must be collaborative. You also have the ability and the willingness to be an integral part of a team, participative, a contributor, somebody that complements the existing team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan and execute all aspects of a targeted analyst relations program

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key analysts, and internal stakeholders

  • Manage a strong team of 6 analyst relations managers and their engagements,

  • Educate analysts about the Oracle vision, strategy, growth and customer success

  • Provide strategic guidance to development and marketing teams based on insights gained from analyst research and feedback/input

  • Manage the creation of plans and presentations for analyst engagements

  • Interface with sales executive teams to align to their priorities and to report on AR activities and analysts’ perspectives

  • Develop and monitor analyst coverage

  • Communicate key analyst reports to the sales to assist in deals

  • Contribute to sales strategies based on analyst recommendations and perspectives

  • Assist sales in managing analyst impact in deals

  • Support marketing teams with analyst contributions to marketing activities

  • Communicate program direction and achievements to internal audiences

  • Deliver spokesperson training as needed

Professional Experience & Skills Required

  • Strong technical background and extensive experience with cross-SaaS, cross-Tech (Cloud Infrastructure, Database, Analytics, Data Science, Security, Developer & tools) knowledge

  • 8 years of AR or Product Management/Marketing experience

  • Background in working with top tier analysts and highly influential analysts

  • Experience working in large, global companies - ability to work through organizational complexity to influence thinking and drive results across disparate geographies and disparate business units

  • Ability to “think across boundaries” - work with Development, PR and Product Marketing and distill and deliver messages from those teams back to our own

  • Know how to explain complex things in a simple way that people can understand

  • Ability to create and tell a simple customer-oriented benefit driven value proposition

  • Strategic, analytical thinker with strong leadership skills (“gravitas”)

  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to manage numerous deadline-driven projects simultaneously
