The Automation Control Tech I repairs and maintains production machinery and equipment. May assist Maintenance Manager or Team Lead in the supervising and coordination of activities of maintenance employees and contractors. Applies electrical, mechanical and electronic theories and skills to test, modify, maintain and repair equipment and processes as needed.

Required Skills:

Records repairs made and maintenance performed using the CMMS system. Writes and corrects the inputs and outputs of PLC programs using Allen Bradley, Siemens – Rockwell software. Troubleshoots problems with machinery to determine nature of problem, such as computer, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, mechanical problems or set up of the equipment using schematics. Confers with technical support groups to solve computer, hydraulic, robotic- related problems. Enters codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery. Assembles electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments. Assures machine controls are current with available spare parts received in the supply area to prevent obsolete parts being used. Will maintain and troubleshoot 480 VAC systems / Delta Wye knowledge Must be able to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic controlled machinery. Strong knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical troubleshooting Strong knowledge and ability to troubleshoot, program, and repair AC/DC drive systems, VFD’s, HMI’s, and light curtain/parts detection systems Must have knowledge of NEC. Strong knowledge of Robotics. Must be able to write and modify programs Understanding of CNC programing. Must be able to write and modify programs Ability to read hydraulic and electrical prints Strong knowledge of troubleshooting technology. Must have good knowledge of multi-meter, meggar, data collection unit, linear and pressure transducers, HMI’s, and PID loops Performs other duties as assigned. Siemens 7 –1500 PLC programming utilizing TIA (Totally Integrated Automation portal) Siemens VFD experience Proven ability to work as part of a design engineering team to take a preliminary concept to buildable design, including PLC hardware design, instrumentation, control devices, network design, and PLC and HMI Programming Project management experience and Proficiency with AutoCAD and Solidworks Prior experience with Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View SE, Wonderware Archestra, GE iFIX is a plus Prior experience with Vision Systems and Robotics is a plus


An Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or Electronics is preferred. Must also be proficient in troubleshooting and repair of all mechanical, electrical, and electronic maintenance systems. A minimum of 5 years maintenance experience is required.
